Project description:
In recent years, the design of teaching methods (teaching design) in tertiary, inclusive teacher training in North Macedonia has improved, but it can still be noticed that lecturers are focussing on subject-related theories and knowledge transfer in their lectures and less on interactive learning from and with each other or discovery- and action-oriented learning. The university’s Faculty of Education has recognised this need for development and action and is attempting to counteract this trend by continuing the special study week.
Since 2017, the Special Study Week, which has already been successfully organised four times thanks to the support of ARSIMI, has aimed to improve the situation described by introducing and applying various creative forms of teaching and learning such as discovery-based learning through educational excursions, playful learning, partnership-based learning, etc.
ARSIMI has decided to support the application of the Faculty of Education in Tetovo in two ways: Firstly, Mahir Mustafa, ARSIMI board member and experienced lecturer from Switzerland, will lead the special study week. Secondly, the association is making a financial contribution of CHF 3,000. The decision is based on the previous successful cooperation with the University of Tetovo and the clear local need.
The focus of the special study week in October 2025 will be teaching and learning based on a specific competition project. This will initially include a thorough and comprehensive introduction to project work and project management, the independent conceptualisation, implementation and evaluation of projects in the field of education and participation in the competition.
