Trip to Albania in September 2024

Dear travel enthusiasts,
After several years of a forced break due to circumstances, I will be conducting a trip to Albania again in September 2024. For twelve days, we will explore this fascinating country, which I have known for many years, where I worked for four years on the Swiss-Albanian development cooperation and lived in Tirana, which I have travelled extensively, where I have hiked in the mountains and excavated in Orikum, where I have many friends.
The program offers a mix of archaeology, history, culture, and insights into the challenging everyday reality of the Albanians. The Stalinist dictatorship only ended in 1991, and its aftereffects are still visible and palpable if one looks closely. My stated goal for this trip is to provide as broad an insight as possible, from the most important archaeological excavations through the turmoil of Balkan history to the founding of the Albanian state and the communist dictatorship, from the magnificent landscape to folk music, from the current political conditions to everyday Albanian life. If there is sufficient interest, we will also visit projects that have been supported by ARSIMI.
For organisational reasons, the registration deadline is already 15 February 2024, as booking flights and hotel reservations for groups is becoming increasingly challenging, and prices continue to rise the closer one books to the travel date. I ask you to use the attached form for registration.
